Welcome to DanceSport and Welcome to DANCE FOR ENGLAND! Dance for England is a new project aimed at developing and promoting DanceSport for young people, and creating opportunities throughout the country for competition. DanceSport covers the competitive element of Ballroom and Latin American dance; it has a huge following throughout the world and is becoming more accessible and popular, thanks to TV shows like the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, as well as films and stageshows. It is essential that young talent is supported and nurtured if England is to remain a world leader in DanceSport. Dance for England is funded by sponsorship and donation with the objectives of: - Creating dance opportunity for Junior/Juvenile boys and girls (under 14).
- Promoting dance as an enjoyable sport for all as well as developing young dancers to competition level both Nationally and Internationally.
- Encouraging and assisting Dancesport Centres to develop Dancesport and competitive performance standards.
- Supporting the emergence of Young Dancesport talent at Studio level together with subsidised regional events.
Parents and Schools - find out how you can get involved in the Dance for England project | Darren Bennett and his partner Lilia Kopylova know how important it is to encourage dance talent from an early age; as youngsters they enjoyed the support of parents and teachers alike. Darren famously partnered Jill Halfpenny in the 2nd series of Strictly Come Dancing, winning the trophy and setting a high standard for other couples to follow! | | |
